Ambala to soon benefit from new electric city bus service
June 10 (Punjab Khabarnama) : Haryana Transport Minister Mr. Aseem Goyal today distributed cards to the beneficiaries of the Haryana Antyodaya Parivar Parivahan Yojana (HAPPY) in a program organized at the Ambala city bus stand. During the event, he urged eligible beneficiaries to apply as soon as possible to receive their cards.
The Minister assured that the parking issue in the cloth market of Ambala city will be resolved soon, with a parking tender expected to be finalized by July 1. Additionally, he announced that residents of Ambala will soon benefit from new electric city bus service. The Transport Minister also highlighted the completion of a new bus stand in Ambala city, attributing it to the government’s dedicated efforts.
Emphasizing the government’s commitment to the spirit of Antyodaya, Sh. Aseem Goyal described the HAPPY scheme as a unique initiative aimed at supporting families with incomes up to Rs one lakh. Beneficiaries will receive cards for all family members, enabling them to travel up to 1,000 kilometers for free. The government has allocated Rs 600 crore for this scheme, which the Minister expects other states will soon adopt due to its success. So far, 35,000 people in Ambala have applied for the scheme. Eligible individuals can obtain their cards from Ambala Cantt, Ambala City, and Narayangarh.
Principal Secretary Transport Department, Mr. Navdeep Singh Virk, highlighted the significant expansion of the state’s bus fleet, with 1,800 new buses purchased in the last one and a half years. He said that more buses will be added in the next two months. Mr. Virk also mentioned the expansion of AC bus services, which now operate from every depot, extending beyond the previous Delhi-Chandigarh route.
