June 5 (Punjab Khabarnama) : A day after the Lok Sabha elections, the Border Security Force (BSF) jawans along with Punjab Police raided the house of a suspected smuggler and recovered Rs 2 crore. According to BSF officials, secret information was received that a person from the border village Kakkar is involved in drug smuggling, following which the jawans raided the house along with Punjab Police.
The BSF Amritsar Sector team, based on a strong information, conducted a joint operation with the Punjab Police team and arrested two drug smugglers along with drug money worth Rs 2 crore. According to the information, the names of the smugglers arrested are Balwinder Singh and Gurpreet Singh, residents of Kad, from whom, apart from drug money, five mobile phones, two laptops and other items were also recovered. Initial investigation has revealed that the sons of both, Bheja alias Gurvez and Salwinder Singh, are already in jail in drug smuggling cases and more than half a dozen cases of drug smuggling are registered against them. From the perspective of BSF, the biggest drug money of drug smuggling worth Rs 2 crore has been seized by BSF till date. During the last one month, more than 90 drones have been seized.
