May 29 (Punjab Khabarnama) : The havoc of scorching heat is increasing due to which the public is suffering. On Tuesday, the maximum temperature of Punjab was recorded at 49.3 degrees, breaking the record of many years of heat in the month of May. The weather department has predicted an increase in the heat, due to which the mercury will reach 50 degrees in the coming days.
At the same time, the public is suffering due to the havoc of heat wave amidst the rapidly increasing temperature, due to which the daily routine has become disrupted. In this sequence, according to the data released for the next 3 days, red alert has been declared on 29 May, orange alert on 30 May and yellow alert on 31 May. During this time, severe heat wave will have to be faced, which will prove to increase the havoc of heat. In order of temperature, maximum temperature was recorded at Bathinda (Airport) at 49.3, Pathankot at 47.5, Barnala at 46.8, Patiala at 46.6, Amritsar at 46.3, Ludhiana at 46.2, Faridkot at 46, Mohali at 44.9 and Gurdaspur at 44 degrees. Similarly, fresh western disturbance from May 30 can affect various areas.
According to the Meteorological Department, the average maximum temperature today has increased by 1 degree Celsius as compared to yesterday. The temperature in the state is 6.5 degrees Celsius above normal. At the same time, the heat wave was more severe in Ludhiana, Bathinda, Amritsar, Patiala, Pathankot, Adampur, Halwara, Faridkot and Chandigarh as compared to other cities of the state.
