May 28 (Punjab Khabarnama) : Sensex and Nifty closed in the red for the third consecutive day today, May 28. Sensex closed down by 220 points. Whereas Nifty slipped below 22,900. Due to this, investors’ wealth lost around Rs 3.33 lakh crore in a single day. There was heavy selling in small and medium shares. BSE Midcap index closed with a loss of 0.63 per cent and Smallcap index closed with a loss of 1.09 per cent. Except Pharma, all the sectoral indices of BSE also closed in the red today.
At the end of trading, BSE Sensex closed at 75,170.45, down 220.05 points or 0.29%. NSE’s 50-share index Nifty slipped 44.30 points or 0.19% and closed at 22,888.15.
Investors lost ₹3.33 lakh crore
The total market capitalization of companies listed on BSE came down to Rs 416.62 lakh crore today on May 27, which was Rs 419.95 lakh crore on its previous trading day i.e. Friday, May 24. In this way, the market cap of companies listed in BSE has decreased by about Rs 3.33 lakh crore today. Or in other words, the wealth of investors declined by about Rs 3.33 lakh crore.
5 highest rising shares of Sensex
10 out of 21 shares of BSE Sensex closed with gains today. In this also, shares of Asian Paints had the highest rise of 1.30 percent. After this, shares of Wipro, JSW Steel, Hindustan Unilever (HUL) and Bajaj Finserv had the highest rise and closed with a gain of 0.35% to 0.76%.
5 most falling shares of Sensex
The remaining 20 Sensex stocks closed with losses today. In this too, Power Grid shares were the top losers with a decline of 1.60 percent. Apart from this, shares of Tech Mahindra, Bharti Airtel, NTPC and Tata Motors closed in the red with a fall of 1.12% to 1.21% respectively.
