May 28 (Punjab Khabarnama) : Air ticket prices in India rose by an average of nine percent in the first quarter of this year. This was due to increased travel demand and strong economic growth. Giving this information, FCM Travel, listed on the Australian stock market, said that in January-March, there has been an increase of 20 percent in the booking of premium class tickets on an annual basis. Sectors like manufacturing and IT had special contribution in this.
Sunny Sodhi, managing director of FCM Travel India, said, “Domestic air capacity has increased by more than three per cent but with the travel demand coming in, we have seen an increase of nine per cent in average ticket prices.” This has been driven by extremely strong economic growth and a general increase in travel demand.
Sodhi said that India is soon going to become the seventh largest market in the world in terms of business travel. In such a situation, people traveling for business purposes are now ready to spend a little extra for a premium experience.
