Jalandhar, May 23 : General Observer J. Meghantha Reddy and Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today described the Micro Observers as eyes and ears of the Election Commission for ensuring peaceful and transparent Lok Sabha polls.
Presiding over a training session organized for the Micro Observers here at CT Institute, they said that Micro Observers have a large number of responsibilities to perform. They said that right from assessing the preparedness of the Polling stations to ensure peaceful poll the micro observers play a pivotal role in the entire poll process. They also said that the micro observers would directly report to the Observers for the entire election related work.
The General Observer and Deputy Commissioner said that the significance of the Micro Observers could be well assumed from the fact that they would be appointed in the sensitive polling areas identified in vulnerability mapping to keep a strict eye over the poll process. They said that the Micro Observers would play a crucial role on the polling day by observing the overall election process of the polling booths assigned to them. They exhorted the Micro Observers to diligently perform the duty entrusted to them by the Election Commission for organizing polls in transparent and peaceful manner.
They asked the micro observers to conduct mock poll before the actual poll on voting day besides keeping a strict vigil over the entire election process. They said that the Micro Observers would have to get the mock poll done before the actual polling starts on June 1 as a gear up exercise for the polling staff.
