May 21 (Punjab Khabarnama) : Due to the scorching heat, the havoc of heat wave is not stopping, due to which life is getting completely disrupted. In Bathinda, which has been on the top of the list of hottest cities of Punjab for 3 consecutive days, one person died due to the scorching heat while 4 people fainted due to the heat.
According to the latest data released by the Chandigarh Center of the Meteorological Department, the red alert in Punjab has been extended till May 24. The updated forecast has put many cities on orange alert. Apart from Amritsar and Tarn Taran of Majha, red alert has been issued in Firozpur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Bathinda, Barnala and Mansa of Western Malwa. According to this, we will have to face severe heat wave due to which the public will face huge problems. There is no possibility of rain for the next few days, due to which the heat will show its true colours. There will be red alert all around Faridkot. Similarly, there will be relief from red alert in many parts of Pathankot adjoining Gurdaspur.
According to experts of the Meteorological Department, after many years the temperature in the month of May has reached 46.7 degrees, due to which many heat records have been broken. The maximum temperature of Bathinda was recorded at 46.7 degrees. A person was found unconscious near the bus stand in Bathinda, who was admitted to the hospital but the doctors declared him brought dead. Similarly, 4 persons fell unconscious and have been admitted to the Civil Hospital for treatment.
