May 21 (Punjab Khabarnama) : Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Monday arrested Rahul Mahajan, a resident of Guru Nanak Nagar, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, posted as clerk in Municipal Corporation Zone-A, Ludhiana, during its anti-corruption drive in the state. Has been arrested under the charge of taking bribe.
Giving information in this regard, the official spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau said that this case has been registered on the basis of the complaint lodged by Rajinder Pal Sharma resident of Farid Nagar, Rampura Phul, Bathinda, District Bathinda in the Chief Minister’s Anti-Corruption Action Line. He said that the complainant has alleged in his complaint that he had applied to the office of Registrar, Births and Deaths of Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana for correction of father’s name and place of birth in the birth certificate of his son. The clerk posted in the Municipal Corporation office demanded Rs 30,000 in return for doing this repair. The complainant told that the said clerk has already taken Rs 9000 in cash and Rs 2500 through Google Pay and is now demanding the remaining bribe amount.
The spokesperson said that during the investigation of this complaint, the above facts were found to be true that the accused had received Rs 11500 from the complainant. According to this, a case has been registered against the said accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act in Vigilance Bureau police station, Ludhiana Range and the said clerk has been arrested. During further investigation of the case, the role of the concerned employees of the Municipal Corporation will also be examined. The accused will be presented in the court tomorrow.
