May 6 (Punjab Khabarnama) : The Community College of Skill Development (CCSD) of J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, has attracted Multinational Companies to hire skilled hands through the placement drive conducted by the University. In the recent hiring, Shigan Group, the global manufacturing company for providing solutions to the Automobile Industry, has placed 51 students from different B.Voc courses. The students placed by the company are from B.Voc in Electrical, Automobile, and Manufacturing courses.

The Community College is an innovative approach of the University to impart skilled-based education and training to underprivileged youth; especially those who come from rural backgrounds and empower them by providing gainful employment opportunities in collaboration with local industries.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sushil Kumar Tomar extended his best wishes to the students on their selection. He said that it is good to see our students securing positions with esteemed companies like Shigan Group. He focused on how the CCSD is bridging the gap between academia and industry, ensuring that students are equipped with practical skills that meet the demands of the job market.

Principal (CCSD), Dr. Sanjeev Goyal said that the success of our students in securing placements with multinational companies like Shigan Group reaffirms the effectiveness of our skill-based education model. By collaborating closely with local industries, the College under the University is not only providing employment opportunities but also nurturing a skilled workforce that drives economic growth and innovation.

Detailing about the students placement, Vice-Principal Mr. Nitin Goyal apprised that the students have been selected by the company in two categories. First are those who will complete their sixth semester training in the company and will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 17,000 during their training period, followed by salary and increment upon completion. Similarly, in the second category, fourth-semester students will undergo a one-year On-Job Training (OJT) program, and will receive a stipend of Rs. 12,000 per month. After the completion of OJT, they will be absorbed by the company.

At present, the University has been offering 6 B.Voc, 2 PG Diploma and 2 Diploma courses under its Community College of Skill Development. More than 700 students are studying in these courses and acquiring Skill based Education.

During the past year, more than 75 percent of eligible students have been placed in various reputed industries like Sigan Group, Minda Group, Technotrendz Solutions, Orient Electric, Softvik, and GKN driveline for on job training and placements.
