Acceleration in wheat lifting work
May 2 (Punjab Khabarnama) : The wheat procurement figure in the district has crossed two lakh metric tonnes and till last evening, out of the 214355 metric tonnes of wheat that reached the mandis, 214355 metric tonnes (100 percent) of wheat has been purchased. Giving this information, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal said that direct payment of Rs 4,31.26 crore has been made to the accounts of the farmers for the purchased crops.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the work of lifting wheat has increased. He said that wheat is being procured smoothly in all 74 mandis in the district. He said that till now 60809 metric tons have been received from PUNGREEN, 48086 from MARKFED , 52317 from PUNSUP , 30470 from Punjab State Warehousing Corporation , 17300 from FCI and 5373 from traders. MT of wheat has been purchased. He said that keeping in mind the weather patterns, guidelines have been issued to the concerned authorities regarding necessary arrangements , so that there is no damage to the crops in the mandis.
The Deputy Commissioner said that every grain of wheat will be purchased in the mandis. He said that special arrangements have been made keeping in mind the convenience of the farmers. Complete arrangements like sheds, fans , drinking water etc. have been made in the mandis for the convenience of the farmers . Appealing to the farmers, he said that they should bring completely dry crops to the markets and the crops should not be harvested with combines at night. He said that when wheat is harvested in the evening, the combines also cut the moist crop , due to which the amount of moisture in the crop increases. He appealed to the farmers to save the environment from getting polluted by not burning wheat remains and straw.
