April 24 (Punjab Khabarnama) : Anti-malaria week is being celebrated from April 22 to 26 by the health department keeping the eradication of malaria as the main focus. In this regard, Dr. Manu Vij Civil Surgeon Rupnagar released an awareness poster regarding Malaria at the Civil Surgeon Office today.
He said that fever survey and awareness activities have been started by the health department teams in all the districts by the health department teams in the kiln shellers, slum areas. In this regard, Dr. Prabhleen Kaur, district epidemiologist, is going to the field and supervising the teams of the health department.
On this occasion, he said that the World Malaria Day is celebrated on April 25 every year by the Health Department and in this regard, a special anti-malaria campaign is being conducted in the district from April 22 to 26.
They said the spread of malaria depends on factors such as human population density, mosquito population density, mosquito-to-human transmission, and human-to-mosquito transmission. If any one of these factors is greatly reduced, malaria can be eliminated from that area. That is why in malaria-affected areas measures are taken to prevent the spread of this disease along with medicines to kill mosquitoes or avoid their bites. Any fever can be malaria so in case of fever get your malaria test done free of charge at the nearest health facility. Malaria testing and treatment is provided free of charge at government hospitals.
On this occasion, Dr. Anju, Assistant Civil Surgeon, Dr. Navrup Kaur, District Vaccination Officer, Dr. Sonali Vohra, District Epidemiologist and other officials were present.
