April 20 (Punjab Khabarnama) : The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Department of Medicine at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Mohali recently hosted a groundbreaking Continuing Medical Education (CME) event: MOBiCON. This unique conference intersected the realms of medicine and obstetrics, drawing distinguished faculty members from the Tricity region and neighboring states. Notably, faculty members from prestigious institutions such as AIIMS, New Delhi, PGIMER, Chandigarh, and AIIMS, Rishikesh were in attendance.

With over 100 participants, including delegates and experts, the conference focused on medical disorders affecting pregnant women. Distinguished guests included Prof. Subhash Varma, Director of Internal Medicine and Hematology at Fortis, Mohali, and former Dean of PGIMER, Chandigarh. Additionally, Dr. Adarshpal Kaur, Ex-Director of Health Services, Punjab, Dr. Vanita Suri, Retired Professor and Head of PGIMER, Chandigarh, and Dr. Navdeep Singh Saini Medical Superintendent AIMS, Mohali graced the event as Guests of Honor. The conference provided a robust platform for insights and research in the field of medical disorders during pregnancy, covering topics such as anemia, hypertension, thyroid disorders, liver dysfunction, and gestational diabetes mellitus.

Attendees benefited from multiple sessions that emphasized the most up-to-date and practical knowledge, aligning with the conference theme: “Basics from the Experts.” In addition to didactic lectures, the CME featured unique panel discussions on real-world case scenarios, offering valuable insights into the management of these disorders. Over 20 research papers were presented by experts and postgraduate students from various institutes across India. The conference concluded with an engaging audience quiz, which received enthusiastic participation.

Dr. Sushmita Sharma, Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Organizing Chairman, expressed her satisfaction: “The CME was an immense success, fulfilling its educational objectives and fostering collaboration among medical professionals.” Additionally, Dr. Japleen Kaur and Dr. Ashish Jindal, the Organizing Secretaries for the event, extended their heartfelt gratitude to all the delegates and participating faculty members.
