Preliminary reports of loss of about 2000 Acres in Derabassi
April 20 (Punjab Khabarnama) : Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain visited Derabassi’s rain/hailstorm-affected villages on Saturday and assured the aggrieved farmers to send the loss reports to the State Government for deciding on compensation.
Divulging the details, Mrs Jain said that after getting the field reports of loss of crops particularly in the Horticulture belt of the Derabassi, she visited the Villages Chandiala, Amlala, Baraouli, Karkaour, Bohra, Paragpur, Mehmudpur and Brhampura villages today afternoon. She said that preliminary the crops of vegetables/fruits like watermelon, muskmelon and onion have been found affected due to hailstorms/heavy rain. The SDMs have been asked to check the affected areas if any, in their jurisdiction so that a combined report could be sent to the State Government for the next course of action.
Interacting with the farmers of these villages, she said that she has already directed the SDMs to assess the post-rain situation to check the loss in their respective sub-divisions so that a preliminary survey report could be sent to the state government.
She said that so far about 2000 acres of loss of Horticultural crops have been reported in Derabassi while 200 acres in Mohali.
The Deputy Commissioner also visited the Amlala village grain market to review the ongoing procurement operations on the ground. The farmers expressed satisfaction with the procurement arrangements.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the SDM Himanshu Gupta to keep a constant check on procurement operations in the sub-division so that no farmer has to face any difficulty.
