ABC program will be run for helpless dogs
April 16 (Punjab Khabarnama) : A meeting was held here today under the leadership of District Deputy Commissioner Mr. Harpreet Singh Sudan, in which the protection of helpless animals and their population control program was discussed.
On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Harpreet Singh Sudan said that the destitute villages in Sri Muktsar Sahib, Malot and Giddarbaha will be sent to the Government Cowshala (Cattlepond) located in village Ratta Tibba.
He also appealed to the residents of the district that whoever does not have the ability to take care of the animal, instead of leaving the animal as a stray on the roads, should leave it in the government cowshed of Ratta Tibba. He said that many accidents happen due to helpless animals and to prevent them it is necessary to have social participation in this work.
Similarly, a discussion was also held to solve the problem of helpless dogs in the district. The Deputy Commissioner directed to form a sub-committee in which the functional officer of the municipal councils and the deputy director of the animal husbandry department will be included, which will prepare a project report by preparing a complete plan for the dog population control program and then submit it.
After approval of the Animal Birth Control (ABC) program project from the Animal Welfare Board, the project will be implemented in the district. He said that organizations working for animal welfare will also play an active role in this project.
Additional Deputy Commissioner General Dr. Nayan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Development Mr. Sukhdeep Singh Sidhu, DDPO Mr. Surinder Singh Dhillon, Deputy Director Animal Husbandry Mr. Gurtej Singh, Karja Sadhka Officer Mr. Rajnish Girdhar and Mr. Jagsir Singh were also present on this occasion.
