1400.20 MT wheat arrived in grain markets
Ludhiana, April 16 (Punjab khabarnama) : The district administration has been ensuring a smooth and hassle-free wheat procurement season by purchasing and lifting farmers’ produce from grain markets in a timely manner.
Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney reviewed the wheat procurement status and stated that the district administration is committed to completing the procurement and lifting without causing any inconvenience to the farmers. She emphasized that the focus is on immediate procurement of the grains and timely lifting of the grains. So far, 1400.20 Metric Tons (MTs) of wheat have arrived in the mandis, and 1128.15 MTs have been purchased by the procurement agencies since the procurement season began. It is expected that around 8.11 lakh metric tons of wheat will arrive in the grain markets during this Rabi season.
The Deputy Commissioner also added that there are a sufficient number of bales available in the district for procurement and urged the farmers to bring dry wheat crop for smooth and hassle-free procurement. She also stated that the officials have been directed to ensure elaborate arrangements to facilitate the peasantry.
