District SVEEP Team Makes Aware People about Their Voting Right with Vaisakhi Wishes on Gatka Competition 

Cutouts of Shera and Informatory Standis attract the attention of people

April 13 (Punjab Khabarnama) : In continuation of its ongoing Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation campaign, the district SVEEP team, today, visited Gurdwara Amb Sahib on the sacred occasion of Vaisakhi and made aware of the people coming there to pay obeisance, about the upcoming festival of democracy; Lok Sabha Elections-2024. Divulging the details, the District Nodal Officer, SVEEP, Prof Gurbakhshish Singh Antal said that as per the directions of the Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C and District Electoral Officer, Mrs Aashika Jain, the SVEEP activities in the district have been accelerated to sensitise the voters of Voting Right. Starting from the first IPL match, played at New Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, where about 450 first-time voters were given a chance to witness the match, the District SVEEP team has planned and worked on a lot of activities to make the voters aware of the voting right. He said that the Holi festival was also celebrated by the SVEEP team by visiting the Holy Celebration Events organised at various theme parks, resorts etc and the people were given mugs, caps and key chains besides t-shirts carrying messages of the Election Commission of India. He said that today on the occasion of Vaisakhi, District Gatka Association, SAS Nagar has conducted a Gatka Competition that provided an effective platform to the SVEEP team where Bhangra was also performed and branding spreading out the messages of voting, was also displayed. The people who thronged to the Gurdwara Sahib and Gatka Competition, showed special attraction towards the selfie points installed there with the election mascot Shera 2.0 and got clicked photographs. Election Tehsildar Sanjay Kumar, District Good Governance Fellow, Vijay Luxmi and Election Kanugo Surinder Batra were also present during the activity. Sweet water in glasses conveying message of vote, was distributed by the SVEEP team also.
