April 13 (Punjab Khabarnama) : With an aim to reach out to the voters at large, district administration conducted a voter awareness drive at the bus stand – Amar Shaheed Sukhdev Inter-state Bus Terminal – on Saturday.
Working on the directions of District Election Officer (DEO)-cum-Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sakshi Sawhney, ADC (Urban Development) Rupinder Pal Singh participated in the awareness drive and urged the residents to exercise their ‘Right to Vote’.
Flexes/standees have also been installed at different points of the bus stand with a message to encourage the residents to vote.
During the awareness drive, ADC Singh also appealed to the drivers and bus conductors to join hands with the administration to encourage the passengers to vote.
DEO Sawhney said that the aim of district administration is to ensure maximum participation during the Lok Sabha-2024 elections and to achieve the target of more than 70 per cent voter turnout during the Lok Sabha elections (Iss Baar, 70 Paar).
The eligible first time voters can use ‘Voter Helpline’ mobile application and National Voter Services Portal (NVSP) for enrolling themselves as voters. The residents can also visit www.nvsp.in to register themselves as voters.
DEO Sawhney said that the district administration is committed to hold free, fair and transparent elections in the district and every effort is being made to facilitate the voters at the polling stations on polling days (June 1).
