Residents can check food quality at Rs 50 only

Ludhiana, April 10 (Punjab Khabarnama) : The Additional Deputy Commissioner (G), Major Amit Sareen on Wednesday directed the health department to raise awareness among the public about the ‘Food Safety on Wheels’ van.

Sareen checked the functioning of the van in the district administrative complex. He added that anyone can get their food product tested at a nominal cost of Rs 50.

This van is equipped with ultra-modern facilities to test food quality and detect adulteration. The van can detect common adulteration in milk, water, edible oil, turmeric powder, chilli powder, and other daily consumption products.

The ADC said that this would also help in sensitizing the public on food safety, hygiene, and promoting healthy eating habits. He also asked health officials to publicize about the van’s schedule a day prior to its arrival in particular area, so residents can avail of its services. He said that this van would ensure pure and hygienic food items for the people.
