UNDERLINES STRICTEST MEASURES TO THWART ANY INSTANCE OF VITIATING PEACEFUL POLL ATMOSPHERE
FAZILKA, April 6 (Punjab Khabarnama) : To ensure a free and fair environment for ensuing Polls, the Fazilka Deputy Commissioner Dr. Senu Kapila Duggal on Saturday said that joint strategy has been developed by BSF and Civil Police to negate any likelihood of smuggling of arms and narcotics from across the International border.
“Strictest measures have been devised and implemented already to safeguard against any illegal activity by unscrupulous elements to influence forthcoming elections and to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere, Dr. Duggal said here after the meeting to chalk out strategy ahead of nationwide polls.
The meeting was held at a forward post under the Chairpersonship of the Deputy Commissioner with top brass of the BSF authorities and of district police officials. Commandant BSF M. Prasad along with the SSP Fazilka Pragya Jain was present during the meeting.
Stressing on the likelihood of smuggling drugs from across the border, Dr. Duggal said cooperation and seamlessness amongst different agencies would thwart any chance of cross-border supply of drugs into our side from Pakistan side. During elections, there is always a higher chance of pushing contrabands from across the fence, but we are up to the task and measures are already in place to combat this.
On the occasion, SSP Fazilka Pragya Jain said that all agencies are working in tandem and relevant information is being shared with concerned authorities for prompt action. “All measures will be ensured to provide a totally safe, secure, free and fair election atmosphere to each citizen,” the SSP added.
Commandant BSF M. Prasad said that BSF is fully vigilant and alert on the border and with active cooperation of civil administration and all citizens would ensure peaceful conduct of ensuing Polls. Prasad said all out efforts in joint coordination with Civil and Police authorities would be ensured.
Later on Flag March was also conducted in boarder villages by Police and BSP as confidential building measures. While DC and SSP also met villagers to motivate them all to participate in election as voter and to cast their vote without any fear.
