Chandigarh, April 02 (Punjab Khabarnama) : Vice-Chancellor of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, Prof. B.R. Kamboj said that ensuring chemical-free food items rich in nutritious elements to future generations is the primary priority of scientists and farmers. For this, he said that farmers should initially adopt organic farming in small areas and gradually expand its area. He called upon the scientists to keep in mind the problems faced in the modern era whenever they do research, considering various natural resources, availability and quality of water, availability of workers, rainfall, organic carbon of the soil, weeds, crop cycle throughout the year.
Prof. Kamboj was addressing the scientific-farmer discussion seminar at the university today. Former members of the management committee C.P. Ahuja, Sharad Batra, and Shivang Batra were also present during the seminar. Progressive farmers practicing organic farming from various districts also participated in the program.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. B.R. Kamboj highlighted the importance of organic farming from its expansion in the modern age. He said that the main objective of the seminar is to understand the problems of farmers engaged in organic farming and to find solutions to them, and to tailor research activities to their needs. The Vice-Chancellor emphasized the need to establish trust and direct communication between farmers engaged in organic farming and consumers to ensure better prices for their products. He stressed the need to create special courses for promoting organic farming, organize more training programmes, and showcase agricultural models prepared by the farming community.
Farmers practicing organic farming should create WhatsApp groups where they can share their problems and solutions so that they can immediately benefit each other, along with exchanging technological advancements.
On this occasion, Additional Research Director Dr. Rajesh Kumar Gera, Media Advisor Dr. Sandeep Arya along with Deputy Director Dr. Surendra Yadav, Joint Director Dr. Suresh Kumar, Dr. Sumit Deshwal, Dr. Suresh Kumar, Dr. Kishore Kumar, Dr. Deepika, Manjit, along with many progressive farmers were also present.
