Ludhiana, April 2 (Punjab Khabarnama) : The district administration held a meeting with SVEEP nodal officers of 14 all assembly constituencies in Ludhiana district on Tuesday. The officers were directed to intensify their voter awareness activities to achieve the goal of “Iss Baar 70 paar”.
Assistant Commissioner, Krishna Pal Rajpoot, IAS, presided over the meeting at the district administrative complex. He explained that SVEEP is a flagship programme of the Election Commission of India, aimed at promoting voter education and participation in elections. To achieve the aim of a voting percentage above 70%, there is an immediate need to plan a series of activities that increase people’s participation.
The main aim of organizing such activities is to ensure that people take the message of the significance of being an elector back to their homes and localities, and apprise others of the importance of being a voter in a democratic country. In the modern era, the right to vote is the most important asset in the life of every individual. Through this right, they can elect their representatives in a free and fair manner.
Awareness programmes for educating voters include activities such as poster making, Nukkad Natak, slogan competitions, essay writing competitions, rangoli competitions, human chains, lectures regarding elections, drawing competitions, debates, quiz competitions, seminars, voter awareness rallies, march past, EVM demonstrations, other activities must be effectively planned and executed, ensuring maximum participation of the youth and people.
