Sakshi Sawhney virtually reviews election process with AROs and others

Ludhiana, March 31 (punjabkhabarnama) : To make the voting experience ‘pleasant and feel-good’, the administration will set up model polling stations to accord red carpet treatment to the voters on the voting day (June 1).
Presiding over a virtual meeting with all Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) and others,  District Election Officer Sakshi Sawhney said that the aim was to make voting a pleasant experience for the voters. She said that every assembly segment would have Model polling stations to ensure smooth and hassle-free voting experience to the voters on June 1 besides strengthening their participation with the electoral process.
Sawhney said that the Model Polling stations would have good condition building with fresh wall painting, easy access to building, good quality furniture for poling personnel and polling agents, display boards/ signages, provision of basic facilities, voter assistance booth manned by booth level officers and other facilities. Further, there will be facility of medical first aid for the voters at the polling stations.
The District Election Officer also said that voters were the backbone of democratic system and every effort would be made to enhance their participation during the polls. She said that special thrust was being laid on encouraging the young and PWD voters to come out and cast their vote during the polls.
