Workshop Emphasised on Swachhata Hi Sewa and Mera Pehla Vote Desh Ke Liye
Participants Administered Pledge to cast their vote in forthcoming LS Elections
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, March 30 (PunjabKhabarnama) : To spread the message of the Election Commission of India to the first time voters; “Mera Pehla Vote Desh Ke Liye”, a one-day National workshop was organised in observance of the Martyrdom Anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, at shaheed Major Harminder Pal Singh Government College, Mohali, today. Regional Director, National Service Scheme, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, Mrs Harinder Kaur opened the National Workshop by lighting the lamp. Chief guest Harinder Kaur while addressing the students of the National Service Scheme, discussed in detail the information about the right to vote and cleanliness. She said that the theme of the National Workshop is based on ‘Swachhata Hi Sewa’ and ‘Mera Pehla Vote Desh Ko’ to promote cleanliness and voting. College Principal, Mrs Harjeet Gujral took the initiative to encourage all the students of NSS to vote for strengthening the democracy and take the cleanliness drive forward as a campaign. In this workshop, academicians from different colleges presented their views and discussed in detail about voting awareness and cleanliness among the students. In this series, Mohali District Sweep Nodal, Prof. Gurbakshish Singh elaborated on the topic of voting awareness and my first vote for the country and made the students aware of their votes. He said that as per the unique initiative of District Electoral Officer Mrs Aashika Jain, the district SVEEP team has successfully promoted the use of voting rights during the IPL match and Holi Celebrations. A rally on Voting awareness and Swachhata Hi Sewa was conducted and lastly cleanliness drive was started by NSS volunteers. About 750 volunteers’ registration was done successfully from various surrounding colleges and universities. In the end, the College Professor and NSS Program Officer Ashish Kumar Bajpai wholeheartedly thanked all the guests and speakers who had come and thanked all the NSS volunteers from different colleges for coming to this program. A pledge was administered to all first-time voters to use their voting rights in the upcoming festival of democracy on June 01, 2024. Caps and t-shirts promoting voting rights were also distributed to first-time voters.
