Opening of silos by private companies and failure of mandis in Punjab to be strongly opposed
A huge rally to be held in Chandigarh on April 8 and Maha Kisan Panchayat in Jagraon on May 21
Jalandhar, March 29 (Punjab Khabarnama) – Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) Punjab in a meeting today discussed the approval given to corporate houses in Punjab to launch 9 silos as procurement centers under 26 anaj mandis by the Punjab government under the pressure of Center. The SKM announced that the opening of silos by private companies and failure of markets in Punjab will be strongly opposed.
The meeting of the Kisan organizations included in SKM Punjab was held today at Desh Bhagat Memorial Hall Jalandhar, which was chaired by Buta Singh Burj Gill, Kanwalpreet Singh Pannu and Sandeep Arora. The leaders stressed that 730 farmers had attained martyrdoms and spent 13 months on the borders of Delhi thereby the SKM has successfully get the three black agricultural laws repealed. SKM led the struggle, but the government have adopted the path of implementing black laws in Punjab indirectly.
The leaders opined that when farmers start taking their crops directly to the silos, the arrival of grains in government mandis will decrease. In this way, the grain markets will fail and eventually the markets will be closed and it will left the farmers at the mercy of these corporate houses.
They said the brave people of Punjab will not tolerate this oppression at all. To protest against this move, a huge rally and demonstration will be organized by SKM Punjab in Mohali on April 8. Its preparations have been started from today itself.
Apart from this, on April 8, Shaheed Bhagat Singh had dropped a bomb in the UK assembly to make the English rulers listen to him, so the next program will also be announced on the same day to protest against this move of privatization of grain markets.
In this meeting, a unanimous resolution was passed that the Bharatiya Janata Party government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is anti-farmer, anti-labourer and anti-people, approving which, the Central government has harassed the farmers and women on roads during Kisan-Mazdoor Maha Panchayat organized at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on December 19. Besides this the participants were also harassed at railway stations and farmers were prevented from going to Delhi. In view of this, a huge farmer rally will be organized in Jagraon on May 21 under the slogan ‘Modi Harao, Corporate Bhajao, Desh Bachao’, in which the issues of farmers debt relief, protection of federal structure and issues related to the Punjab will be raised.
Apart from the presiding committee, Harinder Singh Lakhowal, Balbir Singh Rajewal, Satnam Singh Ajnala, Kuldeep Singh Bajidpur, Bogh Singh Mansa, Rajwinder Kaur Raju, Boota Singh Shadipur, Balwinder Singh Malli Nangal, Gurnam Singh Bhikhi, Harbans Singh Sangha, Angrez Singh Mohali, Prem Singh Bhanghu, Beant Singh Mehma Sarja, Roop Basant Singh, Raj Gurwinder Singh Ghuman, Ranjit Singh Bajwa and Raghveer Singh Miharwala were also present in the meeting.
