Jalandhar , March 22 (Punjab khabarnama) : Himanshu Aggarwal ( IAS )on Friday assumed the office as the new Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar in the district administrative complex.
A 2014 batch IAS officer, Mr. Aggarwal has served at Fazilka and Gurdaspur as Deputy commissioner before taking the charge in Jalandhar which is famous as sports and media hub across the country.
Later, Aggarwal held detailed deliberations with the officials regarding preparations to conduct Lok Sabha polls 2024 besides having an introductory note about the geographical and demographic parameters of the district.
Terming the free and fair Lok Sabha polls for jalandhar parliamentary constituency (SC) as top priority, he said that the district administration would ensure the elaborate arrangements for smooth conduct of polls.
Assuring the “ level playing field for all political parties and candidates for Lok Sabha polls , he said that the administration would make sincere efforts to facilitate the voters with an aim to achieve the target of more than 70 % polling.
He also said that booths having low turnout in last three elections have been identified and people will be urged to vote in large numbers .
Later on talking with media persons , Mr. Aggarwal said that the district administration will ensure strict implementation of model code of conduct as well as manpower , adequate security arrangements, SVEEP awareness activities will also accord the top priority.
He also said that keeping in view the upcoming procurement season of wheat , the district administration will ensure hassle free procurement in the district besides preparing detailed plan for flood season .
He also mentioned that citizen centric services will be provided in a hassle free manner besides redressing of problems faced by people in stipulated time frame .
Earlier a contingent of Punjab police presented a guard of honour to the Deputy commissioner.
ADC (G) Amit Mahajan , ADC (UD )Jasbir Singh , ADC (RD) Lakhwinder Singh and all heads of departments welcomed the Deputy commissioner.
