Asks officials to ensure hassle free procurement in Mandis
Administration to procure about 5.18 lakh metric tons of wheat in the season
Jalandhar, 22 March (Punjab khabarnama) : Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today reviewed the arrangements for the upcoming wheat procurement season-2024 and issued directions to the concerned officials to ensure the necessary arrangements in place for smooth procurement of wheat crop.
He also asked them to ensure that farmers do not face any kind of difficulty in selling their crop in 80 grain markets across the district .
During a meeting with the officials of Food and Civil Supplies, Mandi Board and procurement agencies at the District Administrative Complex here, the Deputy Commissioner said that during current season , a target of 5.18 lakh metric tonnes of wheat procurement has been set in the district, for which adequate arrangements to be made .
Giving instructions to make necessary arrangements for the purchase of crops in the mandis, Deputy commissioner said that all the requisite arrangements including cleanliness, drinking water, sheds, lights, toilets etc. should be completed before the start of the purchase.
Apart from this, he also reviewed other arrangements including availability of gunny bags , transportation of wheat, labour, weighing scales, moisture meters, tarpaulins etc.
He asked the officers to ensure individual supervision of the entire procurement arrangements so as to ensure a smooth and seamless procurement process.
Officials of Food and Civil Supplies Department, District Managers of Procurement Agencies and Officials of Mandi Board were also present on this occasion.
