Ludhiana, March 21(Punjab khabarnama) : With an aim to ensure maximum participation during the Lok Sabha-2024 elections, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC – G) Major Amit Sareen participated in the voter awareness camp organised for students at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College (GNDEC), Gill road on Thursday.
ADC Sareen encouraged the students to step forward and enrol themselves as voters for the on-going Lok Sabha-2024 elections. The eligible first time voters were apprised of the ‘Voter Helpline’ mobile application and National Voter Services Portal (NVSP), which can be used by students for enrolling themselves as voters. The residents can also visit www.nvsp.in to register themselves as voters.
The officials stated that the camps are being organised under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program and the students are being urged to exercise their ‘Right to Vote’ without any fear.
An oath was also administered to the students to ensure active participation during the Lok Sabha -2024 elections.
Similarly, voter registration and awareness camps for enrolling first time voters were also held in Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women in Model Town, Guru Nanak Girls College, Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMC&H), ITI Gill road, AS College, Khanna etc.
ADC Sareen said that working on the directions of District Election Officer (DEO)-cum-Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sakshi Sawhney, regular awareness and voter registration camps are being organised under SVEEP to achieve the target of more than 70 per cent voter turnout during the Lok Sabha elections (Iss Baar, 70 Paar).
He stated that the civil administration and police are committed to ensure free, fair and transparent elections.
