Administration Launches Extensive Awareness Drive to Sensitize Voters Towards Their Voting Rights Under SVEEP
Jalandhar, March 19 (Punjab khabarnama) : In a bid to create awareness amongst the young voter regarding voting rights, district administration Jalandhar has launched a massive awareness drive under Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program.
Chairing an awareness campaign at CT Institute Shahpur, the ADC Jasbir singh said that the district administration has already adopted a multi-pronged strategy to spread awareness among voters for their right to franchise so that maximum voting was ensured on poll day i.e. June 1, 2024.
Addressing the students, Mr. Jasbir Singh urged them to ensure their maximum participation in the biggest festival of democracy by making Jalandhar a leading district in terms of voting turnout.
He mentioned that the Election Commission of India has also launched a mission to achieve over 70 percent polling in the country and this mission can only be accomplished with the active participation of youngsters in the elections.
Meanwhile, a hand on training was also imparted to youngsters about working of EVM and VVPAT machines. He mentioned that this demo would also act as a catalyst in motivating young voters to participate in the elections. He also thanked the NGOs and Educational Institutions for their active participation in this campaign.
He reiterated administration’s commitment to sensitize maximum voters for use of their voting right judiciously as the campaign would be further intensified in coming days. He stated that no stone would be left unturned to make this awareness campaign successful in the district.
Earlier, he also administered oath to young voters to exercise their franchise in coming elections.
