Bathinda, March 13, 2024 (Punjab Khabarnama): The 17th Annual Athletic Meet of Government Polytechnic College, Bathinda was held at the college playground. In this athletic meet organized by the sports department of the college, 13 different competitions of boys and girls of track and field were conducted. About 150 athletes participated in these competitions. It was started by Chief Guest Yadvinder Singh, Ex-Principal, Des Raj Bansal, Ex-Departmental Incharge and College Principal Anuja Pupneja by hoisting the college flag.Principal Anuja Pupneja in her speech encouraged the students to participate in sports along with studies. He said that sports are of special importance for mental and physical well-being. He said that apart from the 400 meter track, the college has various indoor and outdoor sports facilities. The chief guests appreciated the college for conducting these games and also provided financial assistance for the facilities of the college.Students participated in these competitions with sportsmanship and enthusiasm. Vance Jindal, a student of Architecture Department of the college, was selected as the Best Athlete Boy and Ravneet Kaur, a student of Pharmacy Department, was selected as the Best Athlete Girl. The over all trophy of the Athletes’ Meet was won by the Department of Architecture. Prizes were distributed to the winning athletes by the principal, chief guests and heads of departments.This athletic meet SRC President Sukhwinder Pratap Rana and Secretary SRC. Conducted under the supervision of Meena Gill. In this athletic meet, Sports Officer Gurjit Singh, Assistant Hajur Singh and all the staff members of the college enthusiastically contributed to make this athletic meet a success.
