Chandigarh, March 9 (Punjab Khabarnama): Under the esteemed leadership of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia, Judge, Punjab & Haryana High Court, and Executive Chairman of Punjab State Legal Services Authority, a highly successful National Lok Adalat unfolded on March 9, 2024, across the State of Punjab.
The event witnessed the resolution of approximately 3.55 lakh cases spanning diverse legal issues, including civil disputes, domestic matters, property disputes, cheque bounces, labor disputes, criminal compoundable cases, and cancellation/untraced reports of various FIRs. Notably, Mr. Manjinder Singh, District and Sessions Judge, and Member Secretary of Punjab State Legal Services Authority, personally visited the court complexes in Ropar and Hoshiarpur to oversee the Lok Adalats.
The primary objective of the National Lok Adalat was to encourage the amicable settlement of disputes through mutual agreement. Mr. Manjinder Singh highlighted the importance of alternative dispute resolution centers, emphasizing their role in saving valuable time and money for all parties involved.
Additionally, the Member Secretary shared information about the recently launched free legal aid helpline number 15100 by the National Legal Services Authority, New Delhi. This helpline serves as a valuable resource, providing information on various legal aid services accessible from the comfort of one’s home.
Underlining the commitment of the Punjab State Legal Services Authority to facilitate decisions for the people, the Member Secretary urged individuals to take full advantage of the benefits by actively participating in Lok Adalats.
This initiative reflects a dedication to providing accessible and efficient justice, with a focus on encouraging citizens to embrace alternative dispute resolution mechanisms for the swift and effective resolution of their cases.
