Also directs police and civil personnel to ensure mapping of vulnerable booths within timeline

Jalandhar, March 6 (Punjab khabarnama) : Additional Deputy Commissioner Amit Mahajan on Wednesday underscored the need for launching an extensive drive to sensitize voters about their right to franchise during upcoming Lok Sabha Elections so as to achieve the goal of above 70 percent poll percentage in these elections.

Chairing a review meeting with the SVEEP core committee, the ADC directed the officials to lay special emphasis on areas that witnessed low poll percentage during last polls so that maximum awareness can be spread among the residents of such localities. He categorically mentioned that only with coordinated efforts, the goal of above 70 percent polling can be achieved in the district. All AROs along with other line departments should conduct SVEEP activities in their respective jurisdiction to rope in voters, especially young voters for exercising their voting rights, he added. Mr. Mahajan further mentioned that series of activities to be held in the run up for the elections so that maximum voters could be sensitized about the power of their votes.

Meanwhile, he also reviewed the process of mapping of vulnerable polling booths while directing officials to complete this task within stipulated time frame. He also asked officials to ensure proper accommodation arrangements for security personnel in their respective jurisdictions.
