Education is top priority of government – DC
Directs education department to ensure quality education to every student
Ludhiana, February 23 (Punjab khabarnama)
Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney on Friday directed the education department to ensure that no students must be left out in the district without access to schools.
Presiding over a meeting of District Education Development Committee (DEDC) here today, the Deputy Commissioner underlined the need for ensuring access of quality education for each and every child in the district. She said that concerted efforts must be made to ensure that the children could reap the benefits of pro-poor and progressive education policy of the state government. She also asked the officers to ensure that all the students who have not been yet enrolled in schools get admission in government schools at the earliest. During the survey by education department in November-December last year, 219 children were found out of the school and they would be admitted to the schools this year.
The DC also reviewed the status of development projects in schools in the district. The detailed discussions held over the ongoing construction works, mid-day meal, SSA, Inclusive Education for Disabled, UDise survey, food grains, toilets, and others. The schools were also asked to give orders of uniforms to the Self Help Groups during the new academic session.
Sawhney said education was the top priority of the government and special focus was being laid to empower the government schools in Punjab.
