Tendering begins after approval from sports department
Barnala, 22 Feb (Punjab khabarnama) : Punjab Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer today said that a sports stadium will be built at Jodhpur village of Barnala assembly constituency at a cost of Rs 65 lakh. The sports department has given in-principle approval for this stadium after which the tender process for its construction has started.
Meet Hayer said that under Chief Minister Mr Bhagwant Singh Mann new sports policy has been to create a suitable environment for encouraging sports and sportsmen in the state. Sports nurseries and sports stadiums are also being built to give them further opportunities by identifying talent from the villages at the ground level.
Sports Minister Meet Hayer, who is also MLA from Barnala Constituency, said that a multi-purpose sports stadium will be built at Jodhpur, with which the youth will get sports facilities in their own village. He said that the government is making continuous efforts to channelize the energy of the youth towards sports for the creation of a healthy society.
