A meeting of the district level committee regarding providing facilities and welfare to senior citizens was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner.
Instructions given to do the work of senior citizens in civil hospitals, banks, post offices, power corporations and railway stations on priority basis.
In case of problem in Punjab Roadways buses, senior citizens can complain on toll free number 14567.
Hoshiarpur, 09 February (Punjab khabarnama) : Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal today chaired the meeting of the third quarter of the year 2023-24 of the District Level Committee regarding providing facilities and welfare to senior citizens in the District Administrative Complex. During the meeting, he instructed the heads of departments to maintain respect for elders in government offices. He said that the problems of senior citizens should be solved on initiative basis, so that they do not have to face any kind of problem. On this occasion, SP (Headquarters) Manoj Kumar, District Social Security Officer Manpreet Singh were also present with him.
The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the last quarter’s meeting during the meeting. He instructed the Lead Bank Officer to instruct the group banks of the district to give full respect to senior citizens in the banks and their work should be done on the basis of initiative. He asked Secretary RTA and GM. Instructing the roadways, he said that they should ensure that only senior citizens sit on the reserved seats for senior citizens in government buses, apart from this, strict action should be taken against pressure horns, because these pressure horns can prove to be harmful for the elderly. He also instructed the Health Department official to give slips to the senior citizens in the queue at Civil Hospital, Hoshiarpur on an initiative basis.
While issuing instructions to the Post Department, LIC, Power Corporation and Railway Department, Komal Mittal said that they should give initiative to senior citizens among the people who come to get work done under their departments and give them full respect. On this occasion, it was told by the committee member that for the convenience of senior citizens in Punjab Roadways buses, a toll free number 14567 has been issued, on this number any elderly person can register any complaint and problem. On this occasion, Jarnail Singh Dheer from Senior Citizens Association, Anita Kataria, N.N. from LIC. Apart from Vasudeva, Lead District Manager Rajesh Joshi, Gurmeet Singh, Avtar Singh, Puneet Kumar and Kuldeep Singh, officials of other departments were also present. ,
