Ferozepur , 09 February 2024 (Punjab khabarnama) : Cabinet Minister Anmol Gagan Mann will attend the state level Basant Panchami Mela as the chief guest and will distribute the prize money to the winners of the Kite Competitions conducted during the Basant Mela. This was expressed by Deputy Commissioner Mr. Rajesh Dhiman during a special meeting with officials of various departments and representatives of non-governmental organizations regarding the preparations for the state-level Basant Panchami Kite Mela.
He said that these kite flying competitions are being conducted under the themes dedicated to environmental protection , women’s power , gender equality , respect and fair treatment of the disabled , voting and fair use. He said that the Chief Minister Under the series of fairs started in the state by the Punjab government led by Bhagwant Singh Maan to promote the traditional and heritage fairs of the state to the country and the world and further increase the interest of the people towards these fairs, on 10 and 11 February 2024 at Ferozepur . State level Basant Panchami Kite Mela is being organized in Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University.
He said that the knockout competitions of kite flying had started from 5 February 2024 and a large number of kite flyers are participating in these competitions. He said that the final kite competition will be held on February 11 in the presence of the Cabinet Minister and the prize money will be distributed to the winners of the competitions by the Cabinet Minister.
He said that due to the efforts of Punjab Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Miss Anmol Gagan Mann, the district administration is working diligently to promote this fair at the national and international level. He said that during the Kite Fair, the winner of the first place in the men’s kite flying competition will be given a prize of 1 lakh and similarly the winner of the first place in the women’s kite flying competition will also be given a prize of 1 lakh. He said that among boys and girls aged 10 to 18 years, the winners will be given prizes of 25 thousand rupees each. Apart from this, the winner of the NRI category kite competition will be given a prize of 51 thousand rupees. There will be a separate kite competition for the disabled category.
He said that the most attractive competition in kite flying competitions will be the “biggest kite flying competition” and the winner of this competition will be awarded a prize of Rs 2 lakh. Traditional food stalls will be set up in this fair and famous Punjabi singers Amrit Maan and Jagjit Jiti and other famous artists will entertain the people during the fair. He invited the people to come and enjoy this state level fair.
