Union Commerce and Industry Minister Som Prakash today inaugurated the 13.200 km long road from Mahalpur-Phagwara Road to Kharadi, Ispur, Pandori Ganga Singh Wahid Road (District Boundary) built at a cost of Rs 842.90 lakh. During this, the Union Minister of State said that maximum development works will be carried out under the central schemes in collaboration with the Punjab Government, so that maximum facilities can be provided to the people. During this time, apart from officials of the Public Works Department, other dignitaries were also present with him.
The Union Minister of State said that the road network is being strengthened in Hushiarpur through the schemes of the Central and State Government and construction of many more important roads is being started in the coming time. He said that this road built under the Pradhan Mantri Rural Road Scheme will benefit many villages in the area and will provide major transportation benefits to the people. He said that keeping in view the future needs, people will get a lot of benefits from this project.
Som Prakash said that recently Union Road, Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari had laid the foundation stone of 29 National Highway projects with an investment of more than Rs 4 thousand crore in the state during an event organized in Hushiarpur. Among these projects, he also laid the foundation stone for construction of 4 laning of Phagwara-Hushiarpur section including Phagwara and Hushiarpur bypass at a cost of Rs 1553 crore.
