Today, under the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao scheme, Lohri was organized for 121 new born girls in village Shergarh on behalf of the Social Security and Women and Child Development Department with the help of the district administration. Cabinet Minister Bram Shankar Jimpa attended the ceremony as the chief guest. During this time, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Rahul Chaba was also specially present with him. First of all, the cabinet minister reached Shergarh village and installed the name plate of the name of the new born girl Preetika Rani at her house. After this, he reached the stadium adjacent to the Government Senior Secondary Smart School of village Shergarh and celebrated Lohri on ‘Dhiyan Di Lohri’ with their families by giving gifts to the newly born girls.
Congratulating everyone, the Cabinet Minister said that today on this auspicious occasion, we are celebrating the first Lohri of these new born girls. He said that today it is impossible to imagine a society without daughters, hence people should give up wrong thinking like female feticide and respect daughters. He said that sons and daughters should get equal opportunities because daughters are no less than anyone in any field. He said that today daughters are progressing by representing every sector of the society.
The Cabinet Minister said that women empowerment can be possible only when daughters develop themselves after studying and become financially independent and live with their heads held high in the society. Addressing the girl students present at the function, he said that they should set goals and study and choose their career. During this, he congratulated the Social Security and Women and Child Development Department and the District Administration and said that such events create awareness in the society and the administration should keep organizing such events from time to time. During this, he also started the traditional Lohri celebrations by lighting a bonfire. On this occasion, the Cabinet Minister also released the book ‘Wigs to Fly’ written by Dr. Ritu Kumra dedicated to women.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Rahul Chaba said that daughters can make their name famous in the society only when they get support from the family, hence he appeals to the families of the daughters and especially the teachers to encourage the girls as much as possible and guide them in the right direction. Give inspiration to move forward. He said that today daughters are proving their efficiency in every field. During this period, girl students from different schools also presented cultural programmes, skits, dramas and in the end the chief guest also honored the girl students who presented the cultural programme.
