Barnala, January 10: According to the directions of Punjab Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann and Health Minister Dr. Balveer Singh, injured patients in road accidents are being provided free treatment under the Farishte Scheme.
Dr. Baldev Singh Sandhu, Civil Surgeon Barnala, informed that under this scheme, free treatment is being provided at nearby government hospitals, as well as private listed hospitals, during the ‘Golden Hour’ after road accidents, which can save precious lives.
The Civil Surgeon explained that the ‘Golden Hour’ is the crucial hour following a road accident when receiving medical treatment significantly increases the chances of survival for seriously injured individuals. He mentioned that besides the 6 government hospitals in Barnala, free treatment can be provided at 5 listed private hospitals.
Dr. Gurminder Kaur Aujla, Deputy Medical Commissioner and Nodal Officer of Barnala, added that individuals bringing accident victims to hospitals would also be honored by the government. During this time, the police will not interrogate the person bringing the victim unless they wish to act as an eyewitness.
Kuldeep Singh Mann, District Mass Media and Information Officer, Sandeep Singh, District Coordinator of Ayushman Bharat Health Insurance Scheme, and Harjeet Singh, District BCC Coordinator, stated that the list of all empaneled hospitals under the Farishte Scheme is available on the department’s website, sha.punjab.gov.in. Hospitals near highways have been registered to provide quick medical treatment during accidents to save precious lives.
