9 september 2024 : Infosys founder Narayana Murthy shared his approach to fostering a disciplined study environment at home. He emphasized that parents should model good behavior, stating that it’s ineffective for parents to watch TV while expecting their children to study. Murthy and his wife, Sudha Murthy, dedicated over three hours daily to reading with their children, Akshata and Rohan, creating a focused atmosphere by banning television from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm and continuing to study from 9 pm to 11 pm.
“My wife decided to give up TV time to set an example for our children,” Murthy explained. He stressed that leading by example is crucial for instilling discipline in children. He also criticized coaching classes, arguing that they are often a crutch for students who aren’t attentive in class and that parents should be more involved in their children’s learning.
