28 June 2024 Punjab Khabarnama : The cow is considered a sacred animal and symbolises wealth, strength and maternal love in Hinduism. It is believed that it is the earthly representative of the divine and nurturing mother goddess, who represents fertility and abundance. Recently, a video of one such belief went viral, in which a toddler is kept on the temple floor and a cow walks over him. The cow’s foot is just a few inches away from the child, so the innocent child narrowly escapes it. The video is from Shri Kalabhairaveshwara Swami Temple in Karnataka. In the viral clip, a cow is seen on the temple premises, which is quite large. Its horn is also very long.
The father makes his toddler lie down on the floor. After that, the owner of the cow makes the cow walk over the child. The baby remains lying down and the cow also walks over him quite comfortably. Its foot passes very close to the child, which is why one might get scared while watching this video. The cow does not hurt the child. As soon as it passes, the toddler turns around and looks at the cow. The people standing behind are watching this scene.
The video has already been viewed 98 lakh times and many people have expressed their reactions in comments. Many people are in favour of this practice, while many are criticising it. Many say that it is superstition, while many people call it a part of tradition, which is why those who raise questions about it are trolled.
In rural India, cows are often seen on the streets and are protected by villagers. The milk from cows is considered pure and is used in rituals and offerings. The cow is also considered a symbol of non-violence, selfless giving and compassion as it provides milk, dung and other resources without expecting a reward. These qualities make the cow an important symbol in Hinduism and a central part of Hindu culture.
