April 30 (Punjab Khabarnama) : The problems faced by the passengers due to cancellation of trains are not ending, in the same sequence, on April 30, the express train going from Jalandhar City station to New Delhi and the Katra train going to Vaishno Devi will remain cancelled. To provide relief to the passengers, For this purpose, Railways is operating trains by diverting their routes. Although passengers are getting delayed due to this, they are able to reach their destination through trains. In this sequence, the routes of more than 100 trains were diverted by the department today.

At the same time, due to cancellation of trains, the amount to be paid by the department to the passengers is continuously increasing. The department is incurring huge losses due to this. According to the data, refund of Rs 77,95,345 has been given by the Railway Department to 14,386 passengers from 17 to 28 April. These figures are till April 28 while the payment has crossed Rs 78 lakh. Keeping in view the convenience of the passengers who are troubled while waiting for the trains, many trains have been canceled by the department for the coming days. Around 46 trains are included in this list.

There are many such trains among these trains which do not have to reach City Railway Station or Jalandhar Cantt. Dozens of trains passing through Jalandhar City Railway Station have been cancelled, mainly low-cost trains. These include train numbers 04689 (Ambala Cantt-Jalandhar City), 12241 (Amritsar-Chandigarh), 12459-12460 (New Delhi-Amritsar), 12497-12498 (Delhi-Amritsar Shan-e-Punjab), 14033-14034 (Old Delhi- Katra), 12053-12054 (Amritsar-Haridwar), 14681-14682 (New Delhi-Jalandhar City), 22429-22430 (Old Delhi-Pathankot).

There was silence at the station, curfew like atmosphere seen in the afternoon
Due to cancellation of trains, passengers are becoming disillusioned with the Railways. In this sequence, silence was seen at the city railway station during the day. The traffic of people at the station has reduced drastically and compared to the routine, only a few percent of people are coming to the station. Due to this, a curfew-like atmosphere is being seen at the station during the afternoon. Usually there is a rush at the station even at 2 o’clock in the night, but now the picture has changed due to the farmers’ protest.

No hope of relief yet
The passengers coming for work are facing a lot of problems and there is no hope of getting any kind of relief to the passengers in the coming days also. People say that the prevailing situation is causing a lot of problems, hence the department should find a solution so that people can get relief from these problems. Experts say that there is no hope of getting relief in the coming days.
