Under the able leadership of Chief Minister, Punjab Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann and Minister for Higher Education and Languages Harjot Singh Bains, Department of Languages, Punjab is continuously dynamic in the field of literature and language.
While efforts are being made by the department for the improvement of Punjabi language, there are also programs for other languages. Under the same series, the District Language Office, Ludhiana organized a Trilingual Poet Durbar at the local Government College, Girls, as per the guidelines of the Director Language Department, Punjab, Harpreet Kaur.
This event was presided over by Shiromani Punjabi poet and eminent scholar Prof. Gurbhajan Gill did it. DDPO Ludhiana Mrs. Navdeep Kaur participated in this event as a special guest. Renowned Punjabi poet, painter and photo artist Swaranjit Svi, the winner of the Bharatiya Sahitya Akademi Award 2023, was honored on this occasion.
District Language Officer Dr. Sandeep Sharma welcomed the guests and said that the importance of this event has increased due to the presence of great poets of three languages. After the Samha Roshan ceremony, the Kawi Darbar began with the poetry of Urdu poets, in which Jagjit Kafir, Mukesh Alam and Aziz Parihar presented their kalam.
Among the Hindi poets, Komaldeep Kaur, Varinder Jatwani and Dr. Rakesh attended. Punjabi poets include Jagwinder Jodha, Satish Gulati, K. Sadhu Singh, Karamjit Grewal, Jasleen Kaur and Swaranjit Svi enthralled the audience with their poetry.
Speaking in the chair, Prof. Gurbhajan Gill said that even though these poets belonged to three different languages, a common tone was being heard from the court. In fact, this tone is the tone of concern towards society in poetry or literature. He congratulated the Language Department, Punjab and the college administration for organizing this event.
Punjabi Shaira Jasleen Kaur played the role of stage management with great respect. College Principal Suman Lata thanked the guests at the end of the event and said that they will continue to support such events in the future as well.
On this occasion, the poster of Harpreet Kaur Dhoot’s story collection Suraj Haar Gaya and Karamjit Grewal’s literary song was released. Vidyaran Saloni of the college presented Surjit Patar’s ghazal ‘Kujh Kiha Tan’ in Tarnum. On this occasion, Research Officer Sandeep Singh, Head of Punjabi Department Dr. Sumit Brar, Gurvinder Kaur, Chief Editor Jujhar Times Balwinder Singh Boparai, Gurminder Gary, Prof. Surinder Khanna, Vinish Goyal and students of the college were present.
