Deputy Commissioner Parneet Shergill started government procurement of wheat at Anaj Mandi Sirhind
Fatehgarh Sahib, April 13 (Punjab Khabarnama) : All the arrangements regarding the purchase of wheat in the mandis of the district have been completed and the farmers will not be allowed to face any kind of difficulty in selling their crops. These views were expressed by the Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Parneet Shergill while talking to the media on the occasion of starting government procurement of wheat at Anaj Mandi Sirhind. He said that 32 purchase centers have been set up in the district for the purchase of wheat, where proper purchase of wheat is being done by the officials of the concerned departments. He also said that shady places, clean drinking water, electricity and other arrangements have been made for the convenience of the farmers in the markets so that the farmers do not have to face any problem in the markets.
Ms. Parneet Shergill said that arrangements have also been made for necessary bars, crates and tarpaulins in the markets so that if it rains, the crops of the farmers will not be damaged. He also said that along with wheat, instructions have been issued to the concerned authorities for lifting, so that no piles of wheat can be found in the markets. He said that this time there is a possibility of 10 percent more purchase than last year which will be clear in the coming days. He also informed that all the arrangements regarding lifting of the wheat bought in the markets have also been completed.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the farmers of the district not to bring wet crops to the markets and to dry them completely before bringing the crops to the markets so that procurement agencies continue to purchase the crops smoothly. He also said that harvesting of wheat with combines should not be done after 07:00 pm and before 09:00 am because during the night combines harvest the wet crop which increases the amount of moisture in the crop and procurement agencies. Can’t buy crops with high humidity. Therefore, farmers bring only dry crops to the markets so that the procurement process continues smoothly.
