The campaign for the presidential race that was going on for months in America came to an end on the night of November 4. Now the wait is for the voting that will start at 7 am on Tuesday, that is today, which will decide who will be in the White House for the next 4 years. The one state on which both the candidates were seen focusing in the last round is Pennsylvania. Pausedispleasure
On the last day of campaigning, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump addressed big rallies in Pittsburgh. Kamala Harris spent almost the last day of campaigning in Pennsylvania. For the past several weeks, both the stalwarts of the American election were putting all their efforts on getting the 93 electoral college votes of seven states for themselves. In this too, Pennsylvania has the maximum weight of 19 electoral college votes. Both camps were seen exerting their strength for the remaining 74 votes divided between Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona, North Carolina, Georgia and Nevada.
Meanwhile, 7.91 crore votes have already been cast in America. In states like Arizona, the work of sorting out the votes cast before the polling date has also begun. States like Arizona, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin have traditionally been considered to have slow vote counting.
After the voting is over, the first eyes will be on the scoreboard of Georgia and North Carolina, from where the results are expected first. Along with this, the results of Pennsylvania are also expected soon in this series. A big reason behind this is also hidden in geography and clock time. Most of the states considered important in the electoral arena are in the eastern part of America. So, the election will end here first and the counting of votes will also start early.
The current mathematics of American election counting is decided by the traditional strength of the parties in the states. In such a situation, the stronghold states of the Democratic Party give Kamala Harris 226 electoral colleges in this race. Whereas former President Trump has 219 votes. In such a situation, Kamala Harris needs 44 votes to enter the White House. Whereas Trump needs 51 votes to become President again.
The toughness of the electoral contest between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris can be gauged from the national poll data which shows a difference of 1% between the two on the last day. According to the poll data, Trump is at 48% while Kamala Harris is at 49%.
Meanwhile, amid the ongoing political tug of war to garner votes during the election, it is feared that this election may move from the polling centres to the courts. America has a history of court appeals challenging the election results. About two decades ago, the result of the close contest between Al Gore and George Bush Junior was not clear for many days and finally the decision came from the court.
