A statement from the provincial police office said that police on Monday discovered a variety of weapons and ammunition, including a DSHK-type anti-aircraft gun, from Almar district in northern Afghanistan’s Faryab province.
The Khabar news agency, citing a police statement, said that the police also found an assault rifle, a mortar weapon, three sets of walkie-talkies, innumerable shells and additional military equipment from the area.
The statement appealed to anyone illegally possessing weapons and military equipment to return to the police.
To ensure security in the war-torn country, Afghanistan’s caretaker government has stockpiled thousands of weapons and ammunition, including battle tanks, since taking office in August 2021.
