Punjab Panchayat Elections 2024:   Yesterday on October 15, during the panchayat elections in Punjab, reports of violence, booth capturing and other irregularities came out in many places. After the report received from the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the districts, the Election Commission has decided to conduct panchayat elections again in 8 panchayats of 4 districts.

However, the date of when these elections will be held again has not been announced. A decision in this regard can be taken soon. The places where re-elections are to be held include 8 panchayats of Mansa, Ferozepur, Moga and Patiala districts.

According to the information received from the Election Commission, re-election will be held for Sarpanch and 5 posts in Mansa Khurd Panchayat of District Mansa. Similarly, Panchayat elections will be held again in village Lohke Khurd of Ferozepur. Polling booth numbers 118 and 119 of Panchayat Kotla Mehr Singh Wala of Moga district have been ordered to re-poll. It has been decided to hold re-elections in village Khudda Block (Sangrur), village Panchayat Geri Raju Block Bhunarheri and village Panchayat Karim Nagar of District Patiala.

Similarly, the Election Commission has ordered to cancel the election of Village Panchayat Lakhmir North, Block Marmot District Ferozepur as the voters faced difficulties in casting their votes. Apart from this, due to the death of the candidates, the commission has postponed the elections of two panchayats. These include Village Panchayat Langomahal Block Ramdas and Gram Panchayat Kallu Sohal Block Kahnuwan.
