11 octoer 2024 : A few days after seizing 560 kg of cocaine, Delhi Police discovered another 200 kg drug consignment on Thursday at a closed shop in the Ramesh Nagar area. The drugs, valued at ₹2000 crore in the international market, were hidden in open namkeen packs. The combined value of both drug seizures exceeds ₹7000 crore.

Here are 10 key updates on the Delhi drug bust:

The UK citizen involved in the second consignment was hired by Basoiya to manage and distribute the drugs. He and another accused, Gill, were instructed to distribute the consignment to various handlers. The UK citizen reportedly fled India on Sunday or Monday.

Delhi Police’s Special Cell found 200 kg of cocaine in Ramesh Nagar, stored in namkeen packets, with a market value exceeding ₹2000 crore.

A man named Akhlaq, from Hapur district, was arrested for transporting the consignment. The drugs were stored in Delhi by a UK citizen, who is currently on the run.

The cocaine, hidden in a warehouse in Ramesh Nagar, was traced to the UK citizen after police interrogated Akhlaq, who was previously arrested in connection with a ₹5000 crore drug case.

Four suspects were arrested earlier in connection with the 560 kg cocaine recovery. Police found 15 kg of cocaine on Tushar Goyal, Himanshu, and Aurangzeb, who were caught leaving a godown in Mahipalpur Extension.

Police discovered marijuana and more cocaine in the Mahipalpur godown, linked to a larger operation. Tushar Goyal, from Vasant Vihar, along with his associates Himanshu and Aurangzeb, were arrested, as well as Bharat Jain, a receiver from Mumbai’s Kurla West.

Both drug busts are connected to a cartel run by a Delhi businessman currently based in Dubai.

The cocaine was packaged in “Chatpata Mixture” namkeen packets, which were later opened during the investigation.

The alleged cartel leader is Virender Basoiya, who met Goyal in Tihar Jail in 2011. He is suspected of orchestrating the shipment from South America to India via Dubai using an old cargo ship.

According to an HT report, the drugs were transported from Chennai to Delhi through Hapur. Akhlaq was arrested on Tuesday for handling the shipment from Hapur to Delhi.
