October 3, 2024: During an event in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, BJP MP Kangana Ranaut made controversial statements on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. While addressing the audience, she remarked that new issues from neighboring states are becoming prevalent in Himachal. She referenced drugs and alcohol, saying, “You know which state I am talking about; their nature is very hot-headed, and they are rowdy. They consume drugs, drink alcohol, and create chaos. I appeal to the youth of Himachal not to fall under their influence. We should learn nothing from them, as they have completely ruined our youth.”
It’s noteworthy that Kangana had made similar remarks during Gandhi Jayanti, which sparked opposition even from her own party. Senior BJP leader Harjeet Grewal from Punjab criticized Kangana’s statements about Gandhi, calling them shameful. Grewal pointed out that while Kangana has expressed dislike for Mahatma Gandhi, she favored Lal Bahadur Shastri instead.
