24 september 2024 : The Delhi Urban Arts Commission (DUAC) has recently issued a no-objection certificate (NOC) for the completion of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) new office located in the Jhandewalan area of the national capital, bringing it closer to inauguration.
Initially, during a meeting on August 1, DUAC did not grant the NOC due to insufficient documentation. However, after reviewing the proposal again on August 29, the commission approved the certificate. The minutes from the August 29 meeting stated that the completion proposal for both towers was accepted after thorough scrutiny of the submitted documentation, which included drawings and photographs of the complex.
During the first meeting, DUAC requested the project architect to provide additional materials, including photos comparing the ongoing construction to the original 3D views that had been approved at the project’s inception. Before receiving a completion certificate from the local authority, the project must obtain NOCs from various relevant agencies, including DUAC and the fire department.
The new RSS office spans two 12-story towers, covering a built-up area of 46,999 square meters, as per the environmental clearance granted in 2018. The facility will house offices, meeting rooms, conference halls, and a library.
The environmental clearance highlighted several benefits, stating that the project would provide educational, social, and cultural learning opportunities, create employment for laborers during construction, and generate jobs for personnel once operational. Additionally, it noted that the institutional building would enhance the local infrastructure.
The project was initially approved by DUAC in July 2015, and revised plans received clearance in July 2018. The construction is being managed by Shree Keshav Samark Samiti, a committee affiliated with the RSS and named after its founder, Keshav Baliram Hegdewar.
