The disease of love often takes a person to strange places and a man from Japan has taken it to a new level. 41-year-old Akihiko Kondo has married virtual singer Hatsune Miku. This is not a real person, but an anime character brought to life by Vocaloid software. Kondo recently celebrated his sixth wedding anniversary and expressed his love on social media.
Kondo celebrated his anniversary by cutting a cake on November 4. The cake read, “I love Miku. Happy six-year anniversary.” Kondo says that he loves virtual singer Miku very much and this is the most important relationship in his life.
How did love begin?
This interesting story begins in 2007, when Hatsune Miku was released as a Vocaloid software by Japan’s Crypton Future Media. Miku is a 16-year-old pop singer whose long turquoise pigtails and her singing voice attracted Kondo. He says that he was romantically interested in women before falling in love with Miku, but his world changed completely after Miku came along. Miku’s voice helped him reintegrate into society and helped him mentally.
